Wildtree

I can never resist a chance to make a load of money in personal sales, although I haven’t been successful yet. But I learn every time from my mistakes. So I’m at it again.

This time the company is Wildtree.

My website can be found at www.mywildtree.com/loveyourfood. Check it out. They sell food products that you use to make real food, like meat and vegetables and pasta into meals using their seasoning mixes or sauces or rubs or oils, etc. Carole Morgan had a “tasting” and I was so impressed that I signed up before I ever got my order. Actually I still don’t have my order…

I’ll be sending in my first order on about Sept. 9, so if there is anything you want, I can get it for you at my cost, which is 20% off the catalog price. Don’t order it on line, though. Let me know what you want. I haven’t tried a lot of it, but I really liked what I tried and the fact that it is good without a lot of the stuff that packaged foods are usually full of. As I try new stuff, I’ll keep you posted on what is really good!

Weekend already?

Friday afternoon and I just finished mowing the yard. Before I could mow, I had to pick up a wheelbarrow load of black walnuts off the ground. I used a hoe to scrape them into piles and a shovel to get them into the wheelbarrow. That was about 2 weeks worth.  So I tend to put off mowing as long as I can, not because of the mowing itself, but because of the nuts. But, it is done for another week – yay!

I took my seniors on a trip to Fanny Hill for a dinner and show yesterday. We saw Church Basement Ladies. It was good, but not as good as when I saw it at the Plymouth Playhouse a few years ago. But the food was awesome and we had a really good time. Our next trip is in exactly a month, when we go to the Dells to see Charlie Pride (who’s he??) live in concert. I don’t really want to give up a Saturday to lead that trip, but everyone says he’s really good and someone has to be in charge.

I’m trying to get everything done that takes two hands so I can be without two for a week or so. Mowing, cleaning, painting, constructing and destructing. Then I plan to lounge around and heal while I read books and watch movies!

What’s news here

First of all, I’m having carpal tunnel surgery on my right hand next Tuesday, the 23rd. I know several people who have had it, so I’m not worried. It will be nice to be able to play the organ each Sunday without having my hand fall totally asleep in less than 10 minutes. I expect to be totally healed up and ready to go by the time choir rehearsals start in mid-September.

Dad decided not to totally quit at Pactiv until mid-September, so he will be working 2 jobs for a while. For one thing, he will still have insurance through Pactiv to cover my surgery. Plus he will have more time to get things wrapped up there, because he just isn’t finding he is able to get it all done by this Friday. But that also means he will not have all next week to work on the house. He will take off Tuesday to drive me to the dr., but he will work some hours the rest of the days.

As far as the house goes, we bought the tub and surround, then found it wouldn’t fit through either outside door, so we had to take one door totally off and strip it down to the studs to get the tub through. But it is in now, so we can build the wall around the bathroom. Other than that, we’ve been sheetrocking (slowly) and doing electrical.  And I did some more tearing out of paneling in the laundry room. And Dad put the window into the bathroom. It was in the west end of the laundry room, where it just let in hot afternoon sun, so I, totally by myself, took it out and filled in the space with studs and put on a piece of plywood that we have to put siding over.  Well, not totally by myself, because Dad gave me advice and handed me tools. 🙂

My new purse

I’ve been getting by with a backpack purse I got at a garage sale for several years, and then someone told me about Miche bags, so I went to a party and was fascinated with them. I only even considered buying one (very expensive!) because I said I would if some money that I wasn’t expecting came in, and, lo and behold, it happened – a check I thought I’d gotten long before came in and it more than covered the cost.

So, here are my bags. The concept is this: you buy a basic bag – I got the classic, but there is a smaller one and a larger one. Then you buy covers (“outfits”, if you will) to totally change the look of your purse, without having to take your stuff out and move it to another purse. The black one is the basic bag, and I have just the two covers now, but I will be buying more as I find them at a good price! The hardest thing is deciding which one to use!

Happy birthday.

Today is Dad’s birthday. We actually celebrated last night, because today he has to be at the youth center by 5:30 and will be there all evening. So yesterday I picked up some lasagna at the deli in Kirkwood’s and we had that along with fresh beans and zucchini from the garden. And I picked him out some gifts at Kirkwood’s and the Family Dollar that were small enough to bring home on the scooter. And I made him a zucchini crisp instead of cake, because we are not that into cake and a whole cake is a lot for two people!

He is too nervous about his new job and getting everything tied up at his current job before he leaves a week from today to be very interested in his birthday. But I hope he has a great day, anyway!

Flowers and a happy birthday wish

Happy birthday to Erica. 30 years have passed already! I simply must start thinking of you as a grown-up and not still a “young person.” Of course, you are still comparatively young, but you are not what we mean when we say “young person.” You are a mother and a teacher and a grownup without a doubt. And I couldn’t be prouder of you!  Hope you had a great day.

Soggy Saturday

Will the rain never stop?

Today I had a WildTree party to go to at Carole Morgan’s, so I decided to take my scooter – it meant a little more travel time, but my day wasn’t booked too tight and it was a lovely day. Dad checked the weather, even, and said it would be fine. I got rained on. Not a lot, but enough to make me go “grrrrrrr…..” I parked my scooter in Carole’s garage and the drive home was dry and lovely.

Later in the day, I went out to the property to mow. For the second time this summer, I watched a storm move across the horizon to the north, thinking it would certainly miss us. And for the second time this summer, I saw said storm make an abrupt change in direction and head right our way. Only this time, I felt the temperature drop like 10 degrees as I drove the mower like crazy to park it and get my scooter. This time I was also a bit more cautious driving home, because the wind was getting really strong. Unfortunately this time I didn’t make it before the rain. I could see it coming toward me on the main street of New Auburn and it hit me like a bucket of water in the face about 4 blocks from home. I seriously couldn’t even keep my eyes open to see, there was so much water in my face. Somehow I managed to drive very slowly home, by which time I was drenched to the skin and rather cold. So I parked my scooter in the garage and ran through the rain to get home and change into dry clothes.

I think next time I see the skies darkening, I’ll just give up mowing and head home right away!! It was really quite scary!

Celebrating

I made Dad a batch of oatmeal chocolate chip cookies this afternoon as a congratulatory gift. Then he suggested we go out, so we went to the all-you-can-eat fish fry at Gilligan’s (used to be The Spot across the bay from Pokegama). Anyway, they have wonderful broiled fish and you get a huge salad bar and can choose sweet potato fries as your potato choice (my favorite!). By the time we got home, he had to head up to work at The Garage from 8 – 10 and I’ve been sorting my jewelry. Now that sounds fun, doesn’t it?? I tend to leave it on the dresser and after a while I don’t know what I have any more. So I dumped it all on the bed and started from scratch and now I have it very organized. I have more than I’ll ever wear, but you need a lot to match any new outfits you may get in the future!
