Busy week

I’ll write a post about our trip, but right now I’m too tired. I had work, interspersed with running up to Cameron to practice for a concert, then over to our school to practice for state solo/ensemble contest, then lessons, with a quick supper between, followed by learning some music for a college student I practiced with from 8:15 – 9:00.  I finally am done and am going to watch Netflix.

Tomorrow after work, practices and lesson, I head over to Appleton (with a co-worker) to attend a conference Thursday and Friday. Saturday is state contest, so I’m not sure when I’ll have time to write…  Maybe next week!! (Sure glad I had a vacation…)

Home again

Just a quick note that we made it home without any problems. The car ran great all the way. We had a great time visiting with everyone. Now we are trying to catch up on everything here at home!

I can’t wait….!

Almost time to leave on vacation!! One more day and about 2 hours. I’m really excited!

I got the money and the cds to listen to in the car today. I’m also doing the laundry. I’m supposed to be cleaning the house, but I haven’t quite gotten to that, yet. Dad is making keys for the dog sitters. He already has all his tools gathered and he’ll pack that in the car this evening. I still have two more lessons today and three tomorrow. Plus work tomorrow, of course.

And my cold is much better today. I felt really awful yesterday and pretty awful the day before. But I made a turn for the better sometime during the night, so I feel I will survive. I’ve hardly even used any Kleenex today, compared to carrying the whole box with me the two prior days! And I did both my exercise classes today, too.

Roselawn Concert tonight

The theme is rock and roll so, as you can imagine, the songs are all quite a bit alike. But they will stir up memories in the parents and grandparents in the audience and the kids have had a blast learning them. It should be fun. The hardest thing we have to do, musically, is not play so loud we drown the kids out. Other than that it is pretty much I, IV, V, I chords with a few key changes.

Arggghhhh…. it’s snowing AGAIN.

This is getting ridiculous. It snows, then melts, then, just when you think if might melt off enough to rake the yard, it snows again. Seriously?? Enough is enough. Another inch or so since lunch-time. Slippery roads, the whole nine yards. I may just stay in Georgia.

And I have a cold, to boot. Not a very good day.

Another task done

Music contest was today, so I can check one more thing off that needed to be done before vacation. All that is left is the Roselawn Elementary concert on Tuesday evening. Then get everything packed and ready and head out after work and lessons on Thursday evening. Whee!

Contest went well. I felt the kids were better prepared than ever before. I played for 15 events (although I’d practiced with 17) and had 6 1*’s and 5 1’s and 1 2nd when I left. Three hadn’t been posted yet, but one was a class B, so there might be 2 more going on. Either way, I’ll be going to Eau Claire in May with some kids. And I was all done and headed home by 1:30. Not a bad day’s work.

The great storm that wasn’t

We really dodged the bullet on this one. After all the hype for almost a week, when the storm finally arrived, it mostly missed us. We did get a tiny bit of sleet yesterday, some wind and a little (very little) freezing rain this a.m., followed by about an inch of very slushy snow during the morning. By the time I drove to Cameron this afternoon, everything looked just like it did a couple days ago – just a little snow, plus the piles that haven’t melted yet. Whew!

Concert a success

The Red Cedar choir concert was last night, and, if I say so myself, I did a fantastic job. I was really worried about the introductions to the first piece and the last piece and I totally nailed them. Yea! Everything in the concert went quite well, except where the guy in the tenor section threw up all over the back of the girl in front of him. I didn’t actually see it happen, but it did. Someone or one’s got it all cleaned up for the second half, and got the girl cleaned up and sprayed with a little perfume. Not her best night, I’m sure. At least she will never forget this concert!

Cleaning Saturday

It snowed last night, but at least the roads didn’t have any snow on them – just the yards. Probably about an inch or a little more. So I still could go for my run without much slipping and sliding. Over by the beach, where it is really shady, the roads still are ice-covered, but most of the roads are nice and dry! I’m up to about 2 1/2 miles now and I run almost all the way.

I spent the day giving the house a thorough cleaning. Partly it was because it really needed it and partly it was because I have all these new cleaning products to try! So far I haven’t tried a Melaleuca product I wasn’t very happy with. They have some pre-moistened cleaning wipes in a packet and I was really impressed with how well they held together for a big job. I was able to do the whole toilet – top, seats and all around the outside and the wipe was still holding together just fine. And the packet seals back up really well, which has also been a problem with other wipes.

On the other end of the spectrum, I tried their oatmeal packets last night and they actually have old fashioned oats in them. You put them in a bowl, add cold water and microwave for 90 seconds and then cover it and let it sit a few minutes. They don’t taste anything like the instant oatmeal packets – they actually taste like oatmeal should!

I’ll bring some things along when I come to visit. It is kind of expensive to join and have to order every month, but you could let me know what you want me to order for you and then I could give it to you whenever we get together. I figure if I can enroll 10 new customers, the commissions I earn from them will easily cover what I need to spend each month to stay active. It shouldn’t be hard to find 10 customers – they are great products.

Five day blitz a success

I just wanted to get down to the weight I was before I kind of got off track, so Saturday I decided I would make a 27 point menu and eat the same thing for five days and see if I could lose 5 pounds. And I did – exactly 5. So I am encouraged that I will be able to lose the other 25 that are still hanging around. And I’m happy to be eating different things today, because 5 days of the same things all day get a tad boring. But it doesn’t require any thought. Nor does it use a lot of food!
