They warned us and we knew it was coming. But it still takes your breath away just how hot it is today. And our heat index only got up to about 106. I can’t even imagine the 120 they had down south last week.

We went to Chippewa because Dad had to do an inservice. I just read in the nice cool waiting room, then we went to McD’s for lunch and did some shopping at Walmart and headed home. The rest of the day I’ve just stayed inside. I got a walk in this a.m. before it got too hot and don’t intend to go out again! Dad worked on sheet rock mudding upstairs and I sat at the computer working on my book. We both made good progress, and he is now in watching a Jackie Chan movie. It’s only a few days a year that it is actually too hot to do anything outside and we intend to just wait them out. That is until the grass needs to be mowed on Tuesday! The grass up on the hill in the country is due for a cutting tomorrow, but I don’t think I’ll do it. It can wait until after Wednesday, when it looks like it will cool down significantly.

We had the first of our zucchini from our garden yesterday. They were nice and small and were very yummy cooked with onions and stewed tomatoes. Soon we will have green beans.
