New bedroom

The bedroom is done. We used the router to make the trim fancy and painted it yesterday a.m. and Dad installed it last evening. We slept there last night. It was a long process, but I think it looks great.

We had one minor glitch, which was that the bed didn’t remotely fit through the stair opening. I thought all was lost, but Dad said he would just cut part of the wall away, over the door. We are going to put a ventilation vent there to cover the hole. And we are going to install it so it is easy to remove when we move out and have to get the bed back down. If we are going to have the master bedroom up there, there has to be a way to get a queen bed up and down the stairs!

Then we moved the living room into where the bedroom was. It is hard to get good pictures in such enclosed places, but you’ll get the idea:

Then the rest of the downstairs is much more open and spacious. And notice….. drum roll, please… I have a dining room table. Come for dinner, okay?

That’s fantastic, Mom! And you made me laugh so hard about the bed not fitting up the steps. Hasn’t that been the story for the last couple houses? The house where you lived in the basement, you had to add a whole second stairway? Hilarious!!

It looks great, though! And you have so much more space in the downstairs! Fantastic!

But we added the extra stairway for convenience and fire safety, not for the bed. That’s how I remember it, anyway. But, yeah, it was a bit of a surprise to me that the bed didn’t fit. We could have forced the issue with the mattress, but the box springs weren’t going to give an inch! Glad Dad had a solution!

I agree–it looks fantastic!!!! And somehow the room looks so much bigger upstairs with your furniture in there. And your piano looks so nice in the old living room. Things finally look settled there and not too squished. 🙂 We’ll have to come over soon to see it in person!
