126 ready for renters

I was going to say 126 is done, but nothing is ever done. We still have some things to do on the outside, but at least Scott, Becca, and Carter can move in any time, which is a huge relief. Here are some final pictures. The color on the walls of the kitchen refuses to come out brown. It isn’t really green, like it looks, but a nice warm tan.

1. replaced the window over the kitchen sink

2. put in a new light over the kitchen sink

3. replaced the window in the dining room

4. put new outlets in the kitchen and dining room

5. put a new window in the porch, which involved making the wall a six inch wall (at the last minute), which required new trim, etc. and painting that we were still doing at 9:00 last night. In the picture, the project isn’t trimmed yet, but Dad finished that after I left at 9:30.

6. gave the whole front porch a new coat of paint, much of which had to be redone when the new wall went in.

7. We cleaned up the division between the living room and dining room on the floor. There had been a wall there and the floor looked rather patched together, so Dad made straight cuts and fit in a nice oak board, which we varnished. Eventually it will darken and look more like the rest of the floor. Another job that looks pretty easy, but took days!

It doesn’t sound like much but the kitchen took an enormous amount of time and the porch wall fix turned up on Saturday afternoon, which created a whole lot more work that we just barely got done on time!

It looks great! I’m sure the renters will appreciate the work.

And, most importantly, we’ll be making over $100/month more in rent now that it is so nice!
