There is another thing that is almost as exciting as paying off debt. That is Dad getting big projects done. These would be projects that are a huge time drain, so they make us unable to get other things done.

So…. we finished one yesterday. You know that white shed behind our old house in New Auburn. It was stuffed to the gills with Dad’s stuff. It started out organized, sort of, (with shelves and bins, etc.) but deteriorated as things were searched for, until it was basically a huge pile contained by four walls and roof. The renter really wanted to have use of that building, too, so Dad told him he would be out by June 1. We almost made it, getting the last of it out and the floor swept on June 1. Since most of the useful stuff is also out of the garage at 117 in New Auburn, this means that all of Dad’s “stuff” is in Chetek. So there is still a huge project called “sorting” which has never ever gotten done, despite promises to do so for the last 30 some years. But, at least, he has no excuse now, since it is all close by. Anyway, all of this is to say that it was really exciting to drive out of the driveway with the last load, knowing that was one big project to cross off the to-do list!

I can’t imagine how excited I will be when we finally finish 117 and get it rented (or sold.) That is a money drain more than a time drain.

Today is the first day of summer schedule at church, so I only have one service. A couple years ago they decided to pay me the same in the summer as in the winter, which is really sweet.  Then I can really appreciate the drop to one service, because it is the same paycheck for less work. I feel a little guilty, but only a little!
