When will it end?

This cold just can’t seem to leave. Originally it was supposed to warm up this afternoon. Then it got moved back to sometime tomorrow morning. Now it looks like it may be some time tomorrow afternoon, but not all that much until way into Friday.

Enough, already!

In case you are wondering, it is now 14 below. I just wanted to be able to go for a walk tonight. Ah, well. Maybe tomorrow night.

The new normal

This is supposed to be the first day of the new “normal” for me, but with the cold weather it isn’t quite what normal will be. Close, though. I did go over and do my 9:00 class, with only one other person. I let her have the class for free, since she was good enough to stay and exercise with me. I know it is awkward to be the only student in a class, but I’ve been exercising with her for years, so not so much for her. Anyway, that was fun.

But then this afternoon, I was going to go practice for solo-ensemble contest with middle school kids and there is no school, so that is out. And I don’t know how many will turn up for lessons this afternoon, since the weather is just staying cold all day. So it will probably be a quieter day than usual. That is okay, though, because my “to do” list is very long! Off to work on it!

Friday update

I had all intentions of having Chloe post while she was here, but it is already Friday night and I haven’t. So I’ll just give a short report.

We met in Hudson to pick her up on New Year’s Day. Dad and I both drove over, which was nice, because we are partially through a book on cd that we started on the way home from Waukesha, so this gave us another hour or so to listen to it. We’ll listen to more on the way home tomorrow. Anyway, we just ate and watched movies Wednesday night.

On Thursday, I had a few errands to do, and Dad went to work in the morning, so Chloe had to go to the bank with me, where it took 50 minutes to get the signature cards updated for the travel club at the senior center. Then we went and got the mail and she reminded me about my haircut appoint, which I was by then late for. But Jennifer had plenty of time for me, so Chloe talked to the other beautician while Jennifer trimmed my hair. We went home and ate and then Bumpa (Chloe’s hero) was home. After her nap, I had to go teach lessons in Cameron, so Chloe and Bumpa did lots of fun things, including playing on the slide in the back yard of the New Auburn house.

Today Dad only worked a half day again. Chloe and I (mostly I) took down decorations and put up snowmen decorations. Chloe then helped a lot with taking the tree down and boxing all those decorations – she did a lot of counting how many of each thing we had! Then we went up to Country Lane Pantry to get supplies (including candy) and got home in time for lunch. Today’s afternoon and evening involved quite a lot of movie watching, but we’ve also done a lot of playing with various toys. I think she’s had a great time!

Tomorrow we meet Erica and the family around noon to return her to her rightful owners. But it is has been a great way to start my new non-working days!
